Violin and Viola Lessons
Our instructor, Catelyn Janda, structures her lessons to meet the needs of each individual student, while growing their technical and musical skills. All students will study scales, arpeggios, and both right and left hand technique, as well as a variety of musical repertoire. Her students learn various strategies for studying music so that they are able to continue their learning outside of their lessons. In addition, having suffered from a injury, Catelyn teaches each student to explore their own movement so that they can play their violin with healthy movement and balance.
Catelyn Janda is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Luther College. She will be completing her student teaching and graduating in December 2019. Throughout her time at Luther College, Catelyn studied viola with Dr. Spencer Martin, played violin in a string quartet, and performed as principal violist of the Luther College Symphony and Chamber Orchestras.
Catelyn has experience teaching violin to students of all ages and experience. She has taught students ages 3-60 and is passionate about discovering strategies that can help each student find success. Dedicated to creating accessible opportunities for music education, Catelyn worked to establish the Luther College Community Music School at her undergraduate in order to satisfy a growing need in the community. She seeks to meet the interests of each individual student while helping them develop a strong foundation in their tone, technique, and music reading skills.
