Our brass instructor, Julia Broome-Robinson, is a trombonist and educator currently based in the Pacific Northwest. She recently advanced to candidacy for the Doctor of Musical Arts program at Arizona State University, and is currently working on her final doctoral project: a series of interviews with prominent women trombonists across diverse international music scenes.
While completing her coursework at ASU, Julia worked as both a Graduate Teaching Assistant for Dr. Brad Edwards, and as a sabbatical substitute Trombone Studio Instructor at the University of Redlands, in Redlands, California. Julia recently co-authored a trombone pedagogy book with Dr. Andrew Glendening titled The Art and Science of Trombone Teaching, published in 2017 in English and French by International Music Diffusion, and has given presentations at the American Trombone Workshop and International Trombone Festival. Her writing has also been published in the International Trombone Association Journal.
